Earning or maintaining your Food Manager Certification is an important job qualification in the food service industry. This course will prepare you to be certified or re-certified through the National Restaurant Association - ServSafe Foundation. The nationally recognized ServSafe Exam is given as part of this course. Upon successful completion of the ServSafe Exam, you will receive a copy of your ServSafe Food Protection Manager certificate. Note: As of January 1, 2018, the Illinois Department of Public Health will no longer require a state FSSMC certificate. The course is taught in English, but students may request to test in another language with advance notice.

Course Prerequisites and Special Notes

A textbook is required and available for purchase at the CLC bookstore. The textbook contains the national certification exam sheet; students must have the book in order to take the certification exam.

Students are strongly encouraged to read the entire textbook before arriving to class in order to be prepared for the required test at the end of the class. Practice questions and answers are offered after each chapter.

Please note: This course is conducted in English. If language assistance is required, students are urged to purchase the textbook, in your preferred language. The test may also be purchased in your preferred language with advance coordination with the instructor.
